I'm watching the episode where Dr. Bashir is tricked into doing undercover work for Sector 31… They made a few comments that I thought were very relevant:
- Can you commit unethical acts to protect your national interests, even if it means sending young men to die to protect the ethical codes you are breaking?
- In regards to the above, they used the well known quote from Cicero — “inter arma silent leges” (in time of war, the law is silent).
- They regularly address the issue of terrorist action as a legitimate form of war.
- Does anyone else think that Romulan ale is the marijuana of Star Fleet?
…and for those that speak a little Latin, remember another quote from Cicero:
SUMMUM IUS, SUMMA INIURIA.
