Body modification quotes

I was reading Walden (aka “Life in the Woods”) this morning again and I came across this great quote (Thoreau's expansion on I Corinthians 3:16 — “Ye are the temple of God”).

“Every man is the builder of a temple, called his body, to the god he worships, after a style purely his own, nor can he get off by hammering marble instead. We are all sculptors and painters, and our material is our own flesh and blood and bones. Any nobleness begins at once to refine a man's features, any meanness or sensuality to imbrute them.”
- Henry David Thoreau, Walden (1862)

Anyway, I was thinking about adding a quotes section to the BME encyclopedia. If you have a favorite body modification related quote, please post it in the comment forum… It can be quotes from people in the general public, relevant historical ones as above, body modification practitioners and personalities, or even people here.
